L'Oréal Paris Welcomes Actress Diane Kruger As Its New International Spokesperson

MONTREAL – December 7, 2009 – L'Oréal Paris has signed one of Hollywood's most beautiful leading ladies, Diane Kruger as its new worldwide spokesperson for the brand and its products. She joins L'Oréal Paris' dream team of ambassadresses including Linda Evangelista, Aishwarya Rai, Penélope Cruz, Elizabeth Banks, Evangeline Lilly, Jane Fonda, Beyoncé Knowles and Freida Pinto.

"It's a great honour and a huge pleasure to become a spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris. I admire the brand, not only for the quality and innovation of its products, but also because it represents diversity and excellence across the world, values which are very close to my heart. I am, of course, also delighted to be joining the other L'Oréal Paris spokespeople, an extremely talented, widely-admired group of people," says Diane Kruger.

"A highly accomplished actress, Diane Kruger has won us over with her personality, natural grace and elegance. I am delighted to be welcoming her into the family of L'Oréal Paris spokespeople today. Diane will represent the brand's major innovations in haircare, haircolour and makeup," adds Vianney Derville, International General Manager for L'Oréal Paris.

"L'Oréal Paris in Canada is proud to have Diane Kruger as our newest spokesperson. As a much-loved actress in Canada, she possesses a natural beauty and charm. Diane is the perfect addition to the brand's team of exceptionally talented, beautiful and diverse spokespersons that Canadian consumers can truly identify with and be inspired by," says Anik Gagnon, Communications Director, L'Oréal Paris of Canada.

Born and raised in Germany, Diane initially pursued a career in dance with the Royal Ballet until an injury ended her dance career. At the age of 16, she moved to France and became one of Europe's best-known photographic models. During her time as a model she also studied acting and received her first big break in 2002 with a role in The Piano Player alongside Dennis Hopper and Christopher Lambert. However, it was her role as "Helen" alongside Brad Pitt in Wolfgang Petersen's Troy that brought her international acclaim. She has since had leading roles in numerous other major films such as Wicker Park and National Treasure by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Diane has been garnered with many awards and nominations, including her nomination for a César for her role in the 2003 French film Mon Idole, and the film Merry Christmas, which she starred in and was nominated for an Oscar in 2006. She also had the honour of being Master of Ceremonies for the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.

After parts in L'Âge des Ténèbres, The Hunting Party, and the blockbuster National Treasure Book of Secrets, she appeared in the extremely successful French film Pour Elle. In 2009, she reunited with Brad Pitt and skilfully played the role of actress and secret agent in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds. The movie won an award at last year's Cannes Film Festival. Now, she has teamed up with Liam Neeson in the thriller Unknown White Male in Jan 2010.
