First Eco-Friendly Car Battery Introduced for Vehicle Owners
CAA South Central Ontario launches CAA Green Power Battery and Free Battery Tests
Thornhill, ON - June 25, 2009 - While many people mistakenly believe car troubles are worst in the cold, Canadian winter months, car batteries fail just as often in the summer due to the extra pressure the air conditioning places on the battery. To ensure vehicle owners aren’t caught off guard with a failing battery, CAA South Central Ontario (CAASCO) has launched the CAA Green Power Battery – a high-quality, strong-performing battery that is made with recycled lead and recycled plastic – and is offering convenient at home or work battery tests so vehicle owners will know exactly when they need to replace their battery.
“We’re very excited to introduce the first eco-friendly car battery that is manufactured using the best green practices and has reduced environmental impact,” says Craig Lazary, Manager Retail Network Operations, CAA South Central Ontario. “The CAA Green Power Battery is the ideal solution for all drivers who rely on their cars –and are looking for small changes they can make to their daily lives to reduce their carbon footprint.”
Manufactured in an environmentally friendly facility, CAA Green Power Batteries are backed with a competitive six year warranty which includes a free replacement guarantee in the first three years. As an additional eco-friendly feature, CAASCO guarantees purchasers of Green Power Battery proper disposal of their old batteries through a network of battery recycling facilities through CAA.
Although many drivers fail to think about their vehicle battery until they experience a problem with it, or discover their engine won’t start, CAASCO recommends vehicle owners have their batteries tested twice a year to reduce the inconvenience of an unexpected battery failure. Through CAASCO, vehicle owners can arrange for a trained battery technician to test their battery at their home or work, at their convenience. Using a unique diagnostic, battery tester, the technician will provide an accurate, printed report showing the remaining life in the battery and if a new battery is required can sell and install one on the spot.
From July 1st 2009 to July 31st 2009, CAASCO is offering free, mobile diagnostic battery tests for its members in most suburban cities in South Central Ontario. Members simply have to call 1-866-740-6421 to receive a free battery test with a trained CAA battery technician.
In addition to launching the Green Power Battery, CAASCO is currently hosting the Great Battery Round-up – an environmentally driven initiative to ensure the toxic materials, including lead and sulfuric acid found in batteries, are disposed of properly or recycled safely. Through the Great Battery Round-up, consumers are invited to drop off old vehicle or marine batteries at a CAA Car Care Centre, a select Approved Auto Repair Facility or a CAA Recommended autobody and paint facilities. CAA will then dispose of the battery appropriately and will plant a tree for each battery returned.
The CAA Green Power Battery is a premium product that is competitively priced, starting at $111.95 plus tax, which is the same price as CAA’s previous batteries. CAA Members receive a $15 discount on the retail price of a CAA Green Power Battery installed. CAA Green Power Battery is available at CAA Car Care Centres and CAA Approved Auto Repair Services locations. For more information on CAA Green Power Battery, please visit www.caasco.com/
