Calling all Canadians: share personal solutions for hunger in Canada
Food Banks Canada to use Canadian's responses as inspiration to create unique art display
To increase awareness of the problem of hunger in Canada, Food Banks Canada is calling on all Canadians to submit a creative solution to the question: "What would you do to end hunger in Canada?" The national organization representing food banks across Canada will use a selection of the answers it receives to this question to create a thought-provoking, attention grabbing art display that will be unveiled on Hunger Awareness Day (June 1) at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto.
What |
The creation of a unique art display from responses received from the Canadian public to "What would you do to end hunger in Canada?" The art display will demonstrate Canadians' concern about hunger in Canada and will build awareness of the seriousness of the issue. |
|
Why |
In 2009, close to 800,000 Canadians were assisted by community food banks each month, an increase of 18 per cent from the year before, which is the largest year over year increase on record. Disturbingly 72,000 of these were first time food bank clients and 37 per cent of all 2009 food banks clients were children. |
